The roof of Wupperman Staal Nederland B.V. is in the port of Moerdijk. Being part of the Wuppermann Group, it has been a major player in the steel industry for many years. It galvanizes steel coils for various applications on a large scale. The company's rooftop is more than 18,000 m² in size and delivered its first power to the grid in early April 2023.

Leading up to the design of the project realized by Novar, the company partially renovated its roof skin while strengthening the structure of 2 halls. Novar developed the project for Wuppermann, put it out to tender and supervised the construction work and oversaw its completion. All in all, a successful project in which Wuppermann is making its production more sustainable and we in the Netherlands are moving further towards the maximum utilization of roof surfaces!

How does this solar farm contribute to the energy transition?

The roof of Wuppermann Steel is more than 18,000 m² that has space for 4,246 solar panels. Together, this amount accounts for a generated capacity of 1,767,398 KWh. This ensures that 1,060,000 kg less CO² is released into the environment every year!
