Jelmer Pijlman - co-founder and director of Novar - has become a board member at industry association Holland Solar. In addition to his work at Novar, he is now starting on the board as secretary. Holland Solar spoke to him about his new role:
"From Novar we have been closely involved in the developments in the solar energy sector since the founding of our company, with solar parks, solar on roofs, solar thermal and nowadays also with batteries and electrolysers. So that also means that in all those years we have had a lot of contact with Holland Solar. Our employees are active in all kinds of working groups and committees and provide their input that way, just like many other active members."
"I think that as an organization, if you consider yourself a major player in the field of solar, you have to take responsibility within the industry association. Therefore very nice that I have been asked to play a role within the board and in this way can contribute to a good climate for solar energy in the Netherlands."
"As an organization, you have to take responsibility within your industry."Jelmer Pijlman | Director Novar
"There is an awful lot going on in the field of solar energy. An incredible amount still needs to be done to realize the energy transition in the Netherlands and at the same time there is a lot of social discussion about the technical interpretation of this. I think it is very important that Holland Solar as a trade association takes a clear position on this and fights for the solar energy sector before and behind the scenes. For example, think about further intensifying contacts in The Hague and other regions and more actively showing why solar makes an important contribution to the energy goals of the Netherlands."
"Yes indeed! It's still a bit new for me and some getting used to, but so far I find it very fun and important. I know Holland Solar as an organization where the members very actively participate, participate in discussions and share their opinions. It's an active industry association, so that's only positive."
