Solar farm Scaldia - Vlissingen

Novar realized solar farm Scaldia in 2018 in cooperation with ib vogt. The farm was commissioned in November 2018 and is one of the largest solar farms in the Netherlands. The farm is over 38 hectares and is located on the edge of the Vlissingen-Oost port area. Through 141,204 panels, sustainable energy is being generated to provide green power to over 16,000 households. The realization and construction of the solar farm have been fully completed and the project has been in operation for several years.

 

The farm is located around the port area of Vlissingen-Oost and was built in an elongated curve around the area. By positioning the farm in this way, between an A-road and the port's industrial area, virtually no landscaping was required. Currently Novar has the farm under combined management, partly by mowing the grass and partly by grazing sheep, so that the grass on the farm does not grow too tall. The sheep are at the farm almost year-round.

 

Due in part to its size, the solar farm will make a major contribution to sustainability goals of both the municipality of Vlissingen and the province of Zeeland. By creating a solar farm between industry and infrastructure, we are making optimal use of this piece of land.
